Klaus D. Rettig holds an Engineering degree of the Technical High School Munich (FH) where he specialized in advanced System-Engineering in the Aerospace sector, Avionics and Robotics. As a lead engineer he participated in all major European civil and military aircraft programs of its time with an prime focus on military aviation. As part of this development he undertook specialist flight training in the UK and the US to become a test aircrew member for the development flight trials of the Tornado a/c project and many other a/c of its time. At the end of the development phase he joined the newly established German aerospace company DASA, a former subsidiary of the Daimler group, as head of strategy for the aircraft divisions. In this function he took part in the decision making processes for the majority of todays European aircraft projects and the industrial shape as we see it today. As member of the DASA core team he followed the new Daimler CEO to Stuttgart to become the deputy head for governmental affairs, national and international, at the Daimler head office. In course of the restructuring processes of the European aerospace industry he was offered to become the new CEO for BAe System in Germany. Again he participated in all military aerospace project decisions of its time as well as important M&A projects to re-shape the Defence and Aerospace industry. Years later he was asked to lead the Thales Group in Germany as their new CEO. In this role he was in charge for major M&A projects, industrial restructuring processes and business successes. He was supported by a consolidated work force of more than 6.500 colleagues achieving a combined annual budget of around 650 million Euro. Leaving the challenging CEO world he, together with some colleagues, established the International Management Consultancy Network supporting various European Aerospace industries in National and International campaigns, focusing on Governmental Affairs and the new domain of New Space. As major achievement he was instrumental in establishing a civil Asian- European Satellite constellation project with a potential investment volume of more the 7 billion Euro. Based on this he was asked by the shareholders to lead this project as CEO, a function he resigned lately due to a political re-consideration in Europe.
